The Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected all activities around the world. People cannot continue with their day to day activities as a safety precaution to curb the spread of the deadly disease. How It Has Been Affected
Due to the outbreak of the illness, the National Hockey League has halted its activities just like most other sporting competitions around the world. The announcement to put a stop to the games until an unknown date was made on the 12th of March. This announcement was made by Gary Bettman, the league’s commissioner so as to prevent the spread even among fans.
Covid-19 in Canada
Coronavirus infections have been increasing as the days go by with 485 confirmed cases in Canada as at 17th March. Out of the 485, 200 are from Ontario. Five people have succumbed to the deadly virus within the Canadian borders. Canadians, like the rest of the world, have been advised to ensure they clean their hands and observe self-quarantine measures.
NHL Players Affected By Corona Virus
An unidentified player from Ottawa Senators has been diagnosed with the virus on 17th March and necessary steps like isolation have been taken. The team has advised players who came in contact with the positive player to be keen on their health progress and seek medical attention in case of any related signs and symptoms.
NHL Progress So Far
The National Hockey League was underway before its suspension. It began on 2nd October 2019 and was scheduled to end on 4th April this year. The season was in its final stages and 68/71 games had been played.
